What is ACD (Angle Cosine Indicator)?

ACD (Angle Cosine Indicator) is a mechanical shooting angle indicator that helps shooters determine the angle of the rifle when shooting uphill or downhill. On selected Vector Optics rifle scopes, it is integrated directly into the mount or scope tube and displays the current angle of inclination. This allows the shooter to easily account for the so-called cosine correction, because when shooting at a significant angle, it is not the actual distance to the target that matters, but its horizontal component. The steeper the shooting angle, the smaller the effect of gravity on the projectile's trajectory and the less elevation correction is generally required.

When is ACD useful?

Angle Cosine Indicator is primarily used by sport shooters, hunters, and snipers when shooting in mountainous or uneven terrain, where even seemingly small changes in angle can affect hits at longer distances. The indicator allows the shooter to quickly read the angle and determine the correct adjustment using a ballistic chart or ballistic calculator without complicated calculations. In airsoft, ACD serves more as an additional realism feature, as typical airsoft engagement distances are not long enough for the shooting angle to have a significant ballistic effect. Nevertheless, it is particularly appreciated by MilSim players and enthusiasts of realistic DMR and sniper replicas who want their equipment to resemble real-steel setups as closely as possible. Vector Optics mounts and accessories with an ACD indicator are in stock at ANAREUS CZ, so you can choose optics featuring technology used in professional shooting applications.
