Gore-tex

Gore-Tex is a waterproof and breathable membrane brand used in various types of outdoor footwear, clothing, and other products. This membrane is made from expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) and is known for its ability to wick sweat away from the body while preventing water from entering inside. This helps keep the wearer dry and comfortable even in rainy and humid conditions. The Gore-Tex membrane is also considered windproof, contributing to overall comfort and protection during outdoor activities.

Gore-Tex was patented in 1971 and entered the market as a sealing material. The first clothing items using Gore-Tex were laminated jackets manufactured since 1976. In the following years, Gore-Tex was further developed for garment purposes (outdoor clothing, gloves).

Gore-Tex material is frequently used in outdoor footwear due to its excellent waterproofing and breathability properties.

Here are several reasons why this material is used:

Waterproofness:
The Gore-Tex membrane is capable of resisting water penetration from the outside, keeping the wearer dry even in rainy or humid conditions.

Breathability:
This membrane allows sweat to escape from the body, helping to keep the wearer dry and comfortable even during physically demanding activities.

Wind Protection:
Gore-Tex material often includes wind protection, which helps increase thermal comfort and protection against adverse weather conditions.

Durability:
Products made with Gore-Tex membrane are typically durable and long-lasting, meaning they can withstand challenging conditions in outdoor environments.
