MK23

H&K MK23 SOCOM is a large-caliber service pistol developed by the German manufacturer Heckler & Koch for U.S. Navy special operations units under the SOCOM Offensive Handgun program in the early 1990s. It was designed as a precise, rugged, and highly reliable sidearm intended for use with a suppressor and laser aiming module. The highest-quality airsoft replicas are offered by Tokyo Marui, and on our e-shop you can find the SSX23 upgraded version by Novritsch.

Origin and purpose of the MK23 SOCOM

The goal was to create a quiet offensive handgun suitable for special operations. The pistol needed to:

  • operate reliably in extreme environments,
  • deliver high accuracy at extended distances,
  • allow mounting of a suppressor and the LAM laser module.

The result was one of the largest and most powerful modern semi-automatic pistols chambered in .45 ACP, made famous primarily through its use by Navy SEALs.

Benefits of the MK23 SOCOM design

  • extreme reliability and long lifespan,
  • high accuracy due to robust construction,
  • quick attachment of suppressors and optical modules,
  • reduced firing noise with suppressor use.

Airsoft versions of the MK23 SOCOM

The MK23 became legendary in airsoft thanks to its quiet operation and unmatched reliability. The two most well-known variants are:

  • Tokyo Marui MK23 NBB – gas non-blowback (GNB), extremely quiet, widely regarded as one of the best airsoft sidearms for stealth.
  • Novritsch SSX23 – a modernized and enhanced MK23 replica with a higher-precision inner barrel, TDC hop-up design, and broad accessory compatibility.

Both versions are among the most common secondary weapons for snipers and stealth-focused players because their GNB system offers very low gas consumption and stable performance.
