In airsoft, the term Short Stroke Kit refers to a set of modifications or accessories designed to limit the movement of internal parts of the weapon during firing (usually involving reducing the slide travel length in gas blowback (GBB) pistols). This leads to a shortening of the stroke, resulting in quicker and smoother slide movement.

Shortening the piston stroke can have several positive effects:

1. Increased Rate of Fire:
By restricting the slide movement, there can be a faster reloading, leading to a higher rate of fire.

2. Reduced Recoil:
A shorter slide travel can reduce recoil, contributing to better weapon control during firing and increased accuracy.

3. Enhanced Reliability:
In some cases, a Short Stroke Kit can improve the reliability of the airsoft weapon by reducing unnecessary movements and vibrations of internal parts.

The Short Stroke Kit may consist of a set of nylon, metal, or rubber spacers of varying hardness that are installed on the recoil spring guide of GBB pistols. It increases the spring pressure and shortens the slide travel by a few millimeters. While you lose the slide catch function when the magazine is empty, you speed up the weapon's operation.
