MCC

MCC (Magnetic Charging Cable) is a magnetic charging system used by OLIGHT flashlights and headlamps. It is a proprietary solution that enables fast, safe, and waterproof charging without the need for a mechanical connector directly on the flashlight body. MCC is therefore a magnetic charging system built around simplicity, durability, and safety. Compared to USB-C, it does not offer connector universality, but it clearly excels in field usability and water resistance. This is exactly why MCC is typical for tactical OLIGHT flashlights designed for demanding conditions. OLIGHT products can be found on our e-shop.

Example of charging an OLIGHT flashlight using MCC

How the MCC system works

MCC uses a magnetic connector that automatically attaches to the metal contacts on the flashlight body. The magnet:

  • ensures correct polarity (it cannot be connected the wrong way around),
  • maintains a stable contact during charging,
  • allows one-handed charging.

Power is transferred via contact pads, not through an open port. Thanks to this, the flashlight remains fully sealed and resistant to water, dust, and mud.

Advantages of the MCC system

  • High water resistance – no open port.
  • Fast and intuitive connection – the magnet snaps into place automatically.
  • Reduced mechanical wear – no plugging in a connector.
  • Safety – protection against short circuits and sparking.
  • Field-ready – ideal for military, law enforcement, outdoor use, and airsoft.

Different MCC versions

OLIGHT uses several generations of magnetic charging:

  • MCC – basic magnetic charging.
  • MCC II / MCC III – higher charging power, faster charging, and improved contact.

The specific version depends on the flashlight model and battery capacity.

MCC vs. USB-C charging

  • MCC:
    – magnetic contact without an open port,
    – higher resistance to water and dirt,
    – fast and intuitive connection,
    – proprietary cable (requires original accessories).

  • USB-C:
    – universal standard,
    – can be charged with common cables,
    – open connector more prone to contamination,
    – weaker sealing without a protective cover.

When MCC is a better choice than USB-C

MCC magnetic charging is ideal where the focus is on:

  • maximum durability in the field,
  • use in rain, mud, or snow,
  • quick recharging without removing gloves,
  • duty and tactical use.
