Over-Travel (post-travel / trigger overrun) refers to the part of the trigger travel that continues after the shot has been fired – that is, after the trigger mechanism has been activated. This is the so-called “dead travel,” which in some advanced airsoft triggers can be shortened for an immediate reset of the trigger to its starting position. Simply put, it is the setting of how deep the trigger can be pressed (the point of maximum press). For example, a standard trigger may have a total travel of 12 mm, and the shot occurs after 8 mm. So, you press 8 mm to fire. Then you push through another 4 mm of dead travel and release the trigger all the way back to 12 mm before reset. Over-travel stops the trigger right after the shot, so the maximum press may be limited to 8.5 mm, the shot occurs at 8 mm, and the trigger immediately resets, making it ready for another shot faster. The travel length before the shot is referred to as Pre-Travel.
