T-Dean

T-Dean connector (sometimes referred to simply as Deans or T-Plug) is a low-loss electrical connector that has become the standard in airsoft as well as in RC modeling. With its T-shaped design and large-surface metal contacts, it provides minimal electrical resistance, ensuring efficient power transfer without unnecessary heating. Today, the T-Dean connector is considered the gold standard in airsoft. Compared to the older Tamiya, it offers much better conductivity and reliability, while compared to the XT60, it has the advantage of smaller dimensions, which is crucial in airsoft stocks and handguards. We recommend TITAN batteries or Gens ACE from our selection.

Difference compared to the Tamiya connector:

  • Tamiya: Older standard, plastic housing with higher resistance, more prone to overheating. Suitable for NiMH batteries and basic AEGs.
  • T-Dean: Modern standard, flat metal contacts, lower resistance and higher reliability. Suitable even for Li-Po batteries with high current draw.

Difference compared to the XT60 connector:

  • XT60: More robust, cylindrical contacts, even higher current handling (up to 60A+). Commonly used in drones, HPA setups, and heavily upgraded AEGs.
  • T-Dean: More compact and lightweight, easier to install, fully sufficient for most airsoft replicas (currents up to approx. 40–50A).

Why T-Dean is the most widely used in airsoft:

  • Lower electrical resistance: Provides faster trigger response and higher RoF compared to Tamiya.
  • Less heating: Safer and more efficient energy transfer.
  • Compact size: Takes up less space than XT60, fitting better into buffer tubes and handguards.
  • Widespread use: Most modern AEGs and Li-Po batteries now come with T-Dean connectors straight from the factory.
