The Desert Night Camo (DNC) camouflage pattern was designed and used during the Gulf War. This atypical type of camouflage was used to camouflage soldiers from Russian-made night vision. Thus, the DNC camouflage pattern was merely draped over other desert (day) camouflage. Today, due to the modernization of night vision technology, the DNC camouflage pattern is no longer used, but still retains its popularity due to its unique pattern of dark squares. In its short service history, the Desert Night Camo has been tried on by members of the US, British and Australian militaries.
